Named 'Ledingham Cottage' after Johnny Ledingham moved to Sowburn/Patearoa in 1863. Rumour has it there is still gold in the hill behind the cottage as Johnny wouldn't allow sluicing on his property!
Enter into the cosy lounge with an inviting open fire to sit beside and play games or snuggle up with a good book. The mud bricks retain the warmth well. Adjacent to the lounge is the kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms and bathroom; which will have everyone settled in for the nights ahead to do - well nothing, but relax!
There is a sleepout to accommodate the extra family/guests, a good sized carport, to store the kayaks, biking, golfing and fishing gear, and the largest section to relax on the hammocks and set up the tents. Lots of memories to be made here.
Patearoa is a great community, in sunny big sky country not only in Summer, but also Winter! Unlimited activities on your doorstep such as fishing, kayaking, biking, gold panning, bowling, golfing, and amazing crystal clear night skies! Did I mention Ledingham Cottage sits near one of the best swimming holes in NZ - the Sowburn river and a walking track to the beautiful Dykes Dam where you ride the natural rock water slide!! Comfortable travel distance to/from Dunedin, Oamaru, Wanaka and Queenstown.
