One of the most spectacular build sites in all of Golden Bay, this property will leave you feeling on top of the world. The house looks down over most of Golden Bay, over your own native forest and down the limestone bluffs on the property. Covering 124ha (STS) of mostly steep mountainside, rugged limestone cliffs, multiple caves, karst outcrops and a beautiful beech forest, the options for exploring are extensive.
To get here; wind your way up the Rameka Creek 4WD Road right to the top, before you enter the private native forest. From here the private drive meanders about 1.5km through the majestic beech forest, before reaching the property. Once you reach the property the driveway emerges from a lovely stand of matai and climbs the last hill to the house site. The house site is perched right on the edge of the Pikikiruna Escarpment and when you peek over the edge you look 500m down to East Takaka.
The off-grid site itself is flat and Geotech certified, with a bund and native bush to the south and open views in all other directions, north west down over Takaka and out to sea as far as Farewell Spit, westwards over the Takaka Valley to the Kahurangi Ranges and east over the native forest. Looking south the view is of your own limestone bluff and scree slopes.
The property and the two neighbouring are to be protected with a QEII covenant, with a network of walking tracks and predator traps. The birdlife is vibrant with weka, kea, tui, falcons, bellbird and kereru all adding to the mix. Hopefully some of the Kaka from Abel Tasman will make their way over at some stage.
An added bonus of this property is the caving possibilities, with many discovered so far and plenty more to find. One of the caves even has a complete moa skeleton.
If you like hunting there are also a few goats, pigs, fallow and red deer which need controlling.
Two neighbouring properties are also for sale which would make a total of 210ha if you wanted something larger. At the end of the drive the Rameka Track provides fantastic mountain biking opportunities and access through to Canaan Downs, Abel Tasman National Park and Harwoods Hole.
The price excludes a forestry right which is in place for growing carbon on the property. Survey is underway and titles are expected in mid 2025.
